Land your dream job
I bring a very unique perspective to my Career Coaching & Advisory work. I currently work at NYU Stern Business School in the Career Center for Working Professionals. I create and deliver workshops and give individual counseling to part time MBA’s, Executive MBA’s and Stern Alumni to help them reach their individual career goals.
Prior to my work at NYU Stern I ran an Executive Search firm in the Financial Services industry for 10 years following over a decade of working in Equity Sales on Wall Street. With a successful career in Finance and running an Executive Search business, I am able to bring a thorough understanding of a wide spectrum of hiring needs which allows me to coach effectively in many areas. I coach across many industries and a variety of career paths such as Management Consulting, Luxury & Retail, Entrepreneurial/Start-Ups, Finance and Digital Media among others.
Whether you are looking to change your career completely (Industry and Function), advance in your current career, or relaunch your career after taking time away, my expertise in all areas of coaching will help you achieve your overall professional goals. I also work with my Alumni Business School, Indiana University Kelley School of Business, where I received my MBA in 1994.
Case 1: I worked with a relauncher who came from a 10 year plus successful career in the Financial Services industry and prior to that, 5 years in Management Consulting. She took close to 7 years off to stay home and raise her children. She is very excited about the idea of going back to work but has no interest in going back to Wall Street or Consulting. Through several meetings of assessment, self introspection, and really thinking about how she spent the last 7 years, we were able to really pull some great experience from her volunteer work at her children’s school and also at local establishments.
This also allowed her to think about her next steps and what she was passionate about. She decided Education was the field she was most excited about. Her volunteer work looked perfect for this and she continues to volunteer in the Education space while she interviews for permanent positions. She found a path that was her passion. She was additionally able to fill the gap on her resume, LinkedIn profile and also in conversation/interviews. Her confidence is amazing and she is prepared mentally and on paper to land her next position.
Case 2: I worked with a client who was out of work for 3 years after getting laid off during the financial crisis. He worked at a large fund as a Portfolio Research Analyst. He is in his early 40’s and was very concerned about his time away and his age. He had been interviewing the entire time but was never able to land a position. Some of the firms he interviewed with, the process took over 6 months and then did not end with an offer. He went through some very dark times where he really had to dig deep to maintain the passion and confidence he once had.
Through many counseling sessions, targeted resume revisions, mock interviews and soul searching, he was able to land a position back in Financial Services but at a place he would have never thought of without the due diligence he put in. He is now back in the game and incredibly happy in his new position as a Portfolio Manager with a whole new appreciation for his career.
Reviews
A superior coach.
Craig Decker, Managing Director, Investment Bank
“Beverley is a superior coach. Her experience in and knowledge of the industry coupled with her understanding of the client’s needs differentiates Bev from others in her field. Knowing what is required to truly succeed on a given platform enables Bev to hone in on those skills, bring them to the forefront, and ensure that the candidate stands out. There is a no-nonsense quality about her approach, and it delivers results. Bev has a tenacious and methodical approach to her business, and I believe that Bev’s candidates are successful because of her drive for personal achievement. When working with Bev you realize that what she does is not her job, it is her passion.”
Motivational enthusiasm!
Will, Equity Sales
"Working with Beverley was one of the best decisions I have ever made…in addition to being there for me to guide me through the difficult hiring environment, Beverley genuinely cared and always checked in with me after placing me to see how I was doing. She truly takes an interest in bettering her clients' lives by balancing her Wall Street expertise with compassion and motivating enthusiasm. Whether you are looking for a career transition, or just want to attain overall enjoyment in your professional career, working with Beverley as a career coach is a no brainer…I just wish I had met her sooner!"
Very effective.
Mark Yadgaroff, Senior Managing Director
"I have known Beverley for over 20 years both personally and professionally. We worked together at Bernstein at the beginning of our careers and now Beverley recruits for Bernstein. She is both a seasoned professional and a successful entrepreneur. Her strong sales skills combined with her passion for the business makes her very effective at what she does. Beverley brings a distinct insight to the table and I recommend her to anyone looking for a truly stand out recruiter."
Uniquely qualified.
Ed Wolfe, Managing Partner
"I have known Beverley both personally and professionally for over 15 years. Her combination of Wall Street and recruiting experience has made her very successful in her field of search. I am the managing partner of a quickly growing research boutique Wolfe Trahan & Co. and its affiliated broker dealer WR Securities. As such we are constantly hiring and seeking top talent in different lines of work. Beverley has been recruiting for my firm for over four years now, and has successfully placed some key people at Wolfe Trahan. She understands my business, my objectives and what I need to continue to do to achieve them. This is very unusual for a recruiter.
I believe Beverley is somewhat uniquely qualified given her background as a sale trader and her years of relationship on the street in all aspects of people placement to leverage her skills, experience and relationships to also work as a career coach. Her inside knowledge of the many aspects of Wall Street should lend itself well to her coaching. She truly understands the different roles and cultures of this business and I look forward to continue working with her both as a recruiter and career coach."
