I help companies engage and retain their employees by developing managers and leaders to demonstrate they “care” about their people. I offer a variety of services including facilitation/training, coaching, and/or consulting. I specialize in working with fast-growing, venture-funded companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. My engineering background, early career experiences in technical roles, and recent experience running global internal training functions at eBay and ServiceSource give me a unique ability to work effectively in this space. Another passion of mine is coaching individuals who have reached a major crossroads in their lives and are ready for deeper exploration. Change can be scary. And often that prevents us from realizing our innermost desires. I help my individual clients break through self-limiting barriers, and unleash the power to decide how they want to live their life.

How pricing works
CoachMarket pre-negotiates the best prices for our career coaches, and will match you with a coach that fits your budget. Coaches will recommend a package to you based on your needs that includes a suggested number of sessions and deliverables.
Typical price ranges
Our coaches typically charge between $150-$350 an hour. The exact rate depends on the type of coaching expertise, years of experience and industry background. Coaching requires a series of sessions to be effective and coaches may offer special rates when creating a package of multiple sessions.
Billing and payments
Coaches will create a pricing package for you during the FREE consultation and you pay CoachMarket online using any major credit card prior to starting work with your coach. You will receive an email with a link to the payment page once you have agreed to a plan with your coach.

Management & Leadership Development: I’m often engaged by the head of HR. If the needs are clear, we’ll quickly discern whether one or more of my customizable workshops will meet those needs. If the needs are unclear, we’ll decide what type of needs analysis should be conducted. Content and delivery will be tailored to customer needs. Some clients prefer to carve out a whole day for participant skill development while others prefer to work in half-day or even two-hour chunks. We’ll agree up front what success looks like.

Employee Engagement Consulting: I provide consulting support around a variety of topics pertaining to the employee experience. From onboarding programs to internal communications to performance management, and many topics in between.

Transition Coaching: For individuals experiencing significant personal changes in their lives (e.g., new job, starting a family, empty nest, planning for retirement, etc..), I help them lean into those changes with intent. These engagements offer the benefit of a clear process while allowing for total flexibility within that process to address the unique needs of each client. At a high-level, the process involves clarifying how we will work together; identifying the most important gaps that exist between current state and desired state; developing the plan to close those gaps and working the plan. There will be homework assigned to the client at the end of each session. Throughout the process I will be there to guide you and, yes, make you accountable! In order to make an impact, a client needs to commit to a minimum of ten sessions.

Technical foundation. Passion for people. Experienced trainer and coach. Prior to launching his own practice in 2012, Mike spent 25 years in the corporate world in both technical, and training and development roles. Throughout his career, he has focused on helping organizations achieve better results through highly effective employee and leadership development programs. Mike began his career as a technical/business consultant with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) where he worked on a variety of projects for clients such as Lucky Stores, Safeway, Hills Bros. Coffee, Raychem and Levi Strauss.

While at Andersen, Mike made his first career transition by moving from a technical role into Human Resources roles focused on enhancing company culture and improving employee engagement and retention. Mike held a brief stint as the Director of Career Navigation at Scient, an ebusiness consulting startup, in the first dot-com wave. After that, Mike was Director of Learning & Development at eBay, where he managed the development and implementation of multiple global programs and initiatives, including eBay’s successful week-long leadership development program, Leadership eBay. Most recently, Mike ran Global Training & Development at ServiceSource. His team played a critical role in growing the company from 400 to 1800 employees over a 5-year period through robust onboarding and sales training programs. He also built the company’s first management development program.

Mike is certified as a coach by The Hudson Institute of Coaching, as well as The Center for Third Age Leadership. He is certified in PDI’s 360°feedback tools. He is also certified to teach Interaction Styles and Myers-Briggs personality type models. Mike is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a BS in Electrical Engineering. A Bay Area native, Mike loves to take advantage of the numerous outdoor activities the location provides and the weather allows. His favorite sound is that of rushing water. Mike is also a big soccer fan, enjoys jam bands, and attends at least 25 concerts a year.
